From the last crit on Wednesday, I realised that I came up with too many ideas so I decided to narrow it down to TWO keywords for the sake of my sanity.
RANDOMNESS
COMPUTER HUMOUR
I came up with the idea of randomness exercise. It’s sort of an image-making activity to see how random elements of an image combined together with a random subject and a random name. Apart from exploring how many combinations / images I can make, this exercise is also to see how a random name can change the meaning of the image.

For example this one is a combination of :
- COLOUR : Tangerine & Pink
- STYLE : Pop Art
- SUBJECT : Dyson ( Randomised from the trending topics on twitter )
- NAME : Homesick
My method of randomising is to use the available websites for generating words or random lists but this was a quick exercise of an idea.
To sharpen or give more structure to the exercise I want to start with the basics of design so I looked through the library to find similar books to ‘Principles of Two-Dimensional Design’ by Wucius Wong something we learned in the first as a graphic design student in Bangkok Thailand. In the library of LCC, I’ve found ‘DESIGN: Elements and Principles’ by Dorothea C. Malcolm which happens to contain similar information but it’s too simple.
Another thing that I’ll have to do is to read more on randomness.
The book ‘Randomness’ by Deborah J. Bennett might be useful in researching more on this subject. Will report back ASAP.
